Rail Upgrades

Jilalan Rail Yard Upgrade

The upgrade of the Jilalan Rail Yard (Sarina, near Mackay) was undertaken by Coal Stream Alliance for Queensland Rail. Multifix was employed to provide formwork and concrete to a number of rail bridges, underpass and drainage structures.

This upgrade was necessary to increase the capacity of the rail system from 29 trains to 42 trains per day. The Jilalan yard is a key link in the Goonyella coal supply chain, delivering coal to Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay for export.

Trackstar Alliance

The Trackstar Alliance was formed between Thiess, Queensland Rail and United Group to deliver rail infrastructure upgrades throughout South East Queensland.

Multifix Constructions has completed work on several sites for Trackstar Alliance. Namely the Robina to Varsity Lakes and Caboolture to Beerburrum sections

Robina to Varsity Lakes Railway Extension

The Gold Coast rail line is being extended by 4km from Robina to Varsity Lakes. This project is the first step in the progressive extension of the Gold Coast line to Coolangatta Airport.

With Gold Coast City's population expected to grow to about 520,000 people by 2011, the Robina to Varsity Lakes passenger rail line section will help meet growing transport requirements.

Multifix is responsible for the construction of the Robina Tunnel Bridge Abutments and roof works, as well as three other critical road bridges.

Cabooluture to Beerburrum Railway Extension

Multifix was also employed by the Trackstar Alliance to undertake work on a number of drainage structures along the length of this upgrade.
